Um. I’m really going to have to disagree with this.
I will say Christopher Eccleston is god awful in my opinion and if I could I would skip him.
BUT Old who and new who are two different shows. Although we have alot of references to old who in new who, in terms of plot they are two seperate arcs that don’t have anything to do with each other dramatically.
Not to mention that is literally impossible to catch up episode by episode from all the way back in the 60’s BECAUSE ONLY LIKE 25% OF ALL THE STORIES ARE AVAILABLE NOWADAYS. There’s like only one or two story arcs for each doctor on Netflix. not to mention the fact that there are numerous episodes THAT ARE COMPLETELY LOST TO HUMANITY. FOREVER.
however all of new who is widely available. it’s not asking alot to ask people to watch one season of Nine. Not to mention 9’s one season, IS CRITICAL to the story arc that is Rose tyler, who in turn is CRITICAL to the rest of the new who, except maybe 11, but that’s just because she’s not mentioned on the surface very much anymore, but her story is critical to why he is the person he is at this point.
Despite all this however I will say there is noone who is not a true fan. If you love and are passionate about the show and you seek to learn more than you are a true fan.
Except people who have only seen 11. SHAME ON YOU.
